Walter Vogt was a German luthier born in 1936 in Bad Orb (near Frankfurt) and died in 1990. The quality of his work and his instruments, as well as his inventive mind, earned him
widespread international renown. His guitars are rare, as he built only a small number of instruments in order to obtain the highest quality standards. The sound performance of his instruments
allowed him to make a name for himself among concert performers (This guitar was owned by Johan Smith, who won the GFA with it).
The superb guitar presented here was built in 1985 with a Spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. It has an oval soundhole and rollers to guide the strings behind the saddle, making this
luthier's guitars easy to recognize. The craftsmanship is perfectly executed. Although it has been played extensively, it remains in good condition apart from playing marks on the top. Its
qualities are truly remarkable; it is a powerful and very dynamic instrument. The notes are responsive, flexible, and colorful. The tone is woody with strong expressiveness. A magnificent concert
guitar built by one of the great names in German lutherie.
