Tobias Braun was born in 1960 in Holzminden, Germany, but a year later the Braun family moved to Vienna, Austria. He first took up German literature and journalism, but in 1983, entirely self-taught, he built his very first guitar. He then attended several guitar-making courses with José Luis Romanillos and in 1989 was awarded a Master Craftsman Certificate in Vienna. Tobias Braun also contributed to the translation of José Romanillos’s book "Antonio de Torres. Guitar Maker - His Life and Work" (Edition Bochinsky)

This magnificent guitar testifies to Tobias Braun's admiration and special friendship with José Romanillos. The craftsmanship gives this instrument a refined and precious aesthetic presence. The rosette and purfling are impressive reproductions of Romanillos' work. The spruce top is superb, and the birdseye maple back and sides complete the elegance of this instrument. The sound is in the spirit of the Spanish master's instruments. The deep, expressive and woody timbre offers a wide palette of sound colors. Notes are clear, responsive and singing. The musicality is emotional, lyrical and elegant. With his talent, Tobias Braun could not offer a greater hommage to the legacy and memory of the immense luthier José Romanillos.
