Tobias Braun was born in 1960 in Holzminden - Germany, the following year his parents moved to Vienna - Austria. He studied German literature and journalism. In 1983, he built his first guitar on his own. The following year he began a long period of apprenticeships with José Romanillos. In 1990, he contributed to the German translation of Romanillos' book "Antonio de Torres. GuitarMaker - His Life and Work".
This is a very nice "modern" model guitar, and this is what Tobias says about its intention: « The main reason for me was to create a guitar with a "modern" sound in which one can still hear my "roots" in the old Spanish guitar makers history. It is a "mixture" of the influences by my dear Maestro José Romanillos, Santos Hernández, Manuel Ramírez and - most recently - Vicente Arias ». This project is clearly reached. This instrument combines this search for modernity with the sound beauty of instruments built in the pure Spanish tradition: the notes are smooth, woody and colorful, the timbre is deep and expressive. The craftsmanship is remarkable as always with this luthier trained at the best school (note the veneer on all the surfaces of the head which brings an original and successful aesthetic aspect). A Tornavoz of about 2 cm deep allows to lower the frequency of the body and thus to bring more depth. A very beautiful and good guitar to discover !
