Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy belongs to a family of luthiers from the 18th century, based in Couture-Boussey in the Eure department. In 1857, he joined the "Husson-Buthod" workshop, which had been operating in Mirecourt since 1848. In 1866, Jérôme Thibouville became the owner of this workshop, which he renamed "Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy" (Lamy being his wife's name). In the early 20th century, Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy became one of France's leading manufacturers of musical instruments, with a store in Paris (see photos below from Orfeo Magazine n° 21)
