This beautiful José Ramirez III from 1961 has the initials “MT,” which stand for Mariano Tezanos. His guitars are highly regarded, as he was Andrés Segovia’s favorite luthier. The superb restoration done by Juan A. Grupalli has brought back all of its sound qualities. The craftsmanship, decorations, and choice of woods (Brazilian rosewood back and sides) are characteristic of José Ramirez’s most beautiful models from that period. Soundwise, the colorful and expressive timbre is representative of the finest guitars from the Madrid school of the time. A truly beautiful instrument, both for its aesthetic and sound qualities, and for the place it occupies in the history of Spanish guitar making.
