Marco Maguolo's Ducale is the result of the association between the concert model and the homage to his city and country: Venice and Italy. The design of the rosette and the purfling are in the colours of the Italian flag.
This magnificent guitar has a special Ducal model, the "Ducale Aurea REG" made especially for Roma Expo Guitar 2020: the back and sides are made of beautiful rosewood from Madagascar; two gold leaf rings are added on the beautiful rosette representing the colonnades of the Ducal Palace of Venice; the back and sides, inside the guitar, are covered with gold leaf to symbolically represent the ceiling of the Basilica of San Marco.
The lutherie work and aesthetics are of remarkable elegance and quality. In terms of sound, this is a guitar that combines the power of a concert instrument with a great beauty of timbre, the basses are deep and the trebles dense and expressive. This is what Marco Maguolo says about this guitar: "the philosophy behind this project is based on a solid and light architecture of the heel of the neck as a support for a light and responsive soundboard. The aim is to have a responsive, versatile instrument, like a contemporary guitar but with a traditional, expressive, warm and silky woody sound. »
