Manuel Velazquez was born in Puerto Rico in 1917. He built his first classical guitar at the age of 16, learning from his older brother and father. Encouraged by musicians who
recognized his talent, Manuel Velazquez moved to New York, where he opened his first workshop. Thanks to the quality of his work, his instruments soon attracted the attention of guitarists. His
reputation soon grew, making him one of the world's best luthiers.
This superb guitar was built in 1976. It has remained in mint condition, with no cracks or repairs. The aesthetics, wood quality and craftsmanship are up to the reputation of this
luthier. Soundwise, this instrument associates a strong character with something soft and poetic. The notes are long, vibrant and rich in harmonics, with a particular resonance and
expressivity that produce deep musical emotion. Polyphony is precise, with great clarity and good separation of voices. The timbre is woody and lyrical. An exceptional instrument built by one of
the greatest American luthiers, with qualities that make it the equal of the great names in European guitar making.
