Juan Alexander Grupalli began his training as a luthier in 1997 in Spain before continuing his apprenticeship at the Newark School of Luthiery in England, where he graduated in 2009. Since then, he has devoted himself to crafting classical guitars in keeping with the great tradition of luthiery. His work is deeply inspired by the richness of the classical guitar repertoire, as well as by the intensity of flamenco and the poetry of Argentine folklore. He also performs restorations and creates replicas of antique instruments, adhering to the techniques and spirit of the master luthiers. In his approach, Juan follows in the footsteps of the great guitar masters such as Antonio de Torres, Vicente Arias, Ignacio Fleta, Hermann Hauser, and Daniel Friederich. He had the honor of meeting the latter and being welcomed into his workshop, a defining experience in his career. Based in Mirecourt, the historic cradle of French lutherie, since 2024, Juan builds custom guitars, paying particular attention to the balance, sensitivity, and sound personality of each instrument.
This beautiful Juan Alexander Grupalli concert guitar was built in 2025. Its refined aesthetics and the quality of the craftsmanship showcase the full talent of this luthier. The notes are clear, vibrant, and full of color. This instrument combines a strong character with lyrical musicality. The timbre is mellow, rich in nuance, and expressive. A beautiful concert guitar that performs well and is a pleasure to play.
