This is a beautiful 1968 José Ramirez III model 1A. Ramirez was the first major luthier to build guitars with a cedar top, starting in 1965. Cedar was to take on the importance we know today when the next year in 1969, Andrés Segovia decided to play a Ramirez with a cedar top. At the time, the Ramirez workshop was home to the finest in Madrid lutherie: Paulino Bernabé, Manuel Contreras, Ignacio Rozas, Manuel Cáceres, Félix Manzanero, Mariano Tezanos and others. This guitar does not bear a luthier's initials, which normally means that it was built by José Ramirez III himself. This instrument has remained in very good condition, with no repair and correct 12th fret action. We find the typical Ramirez 1A diapason 665 sound of this period that made this model so successful: a powerful sound, deep basses, singing, vibrant and expressive notes, a woody and expressive timbre. A great guitar to discover.
