Enrique Sanfeliú was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1882. After hearing Francisco Tárrega play at a concert in Valencia, he decided he would devote his life to the guitar, not just as a player, but also as a luthier.
He studied with Manuel Loscos, a disciple of Tárrega, and his studies rekindled his desire to make his own guitars. He moved to Barcelona to work in Juan Estruch's workshop.
Enrique Sanfeliú formed a friendship with Enrique Garcia, who shared with Sanfeliú his skills as a luthier. His instruments demonstrate the unmistakable influence of Enrique Garcia’s later guitars.
This guitar has a gorgeous, vintage sound, with lyrical trebles and a dark, haunting and mysterious quality. Probably the most famous guitarist to have played Sanfeliú instruments was Agustín Barrios, whose guitar bore his name on the headstock.
