Born in Greece in 1980, Antonis Hatzinikolaou was initially considered one of the most prominent guitarists of his generation. He is a graduate of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens, where he studied with Alexandra Christodimou. He then continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied with Michael Lewin, Timothy Walker and John Mills. On completing his studies, he received the Royal Academy's highest awards. He has won numerous international guitar competitions, including the Hubert Käppel Competition, the Ivor Mairants Prize and the prestigious Julian Bream Prize of the Royal Academy of Music, awarded by Bream himself. Attracted to lutherie from an early age, in addition to his activities as a musician and teacher, Antonis Hatzinikolaou acquired the skills of a luthier. He studied with master Greek luthiers Nicholas Ioannou in New York and George Pandelias in Athens. Antonis Hatzinikolaou's work is inspired by the Hauser and Bouchet tradition, as well as by the great luthiers of our time, such as Dominique Field. He says of his work that it aims to correspond to his own ideal of musicality. In this sense, we can't but think of Sergio Abreu, who was a great guitarist before becoming a great luthier, with the idea of building the instrument he himself would have liked to play.

This is a superb guitar. The aesthetics are elegant and the craftsmanship perfectly executed. Soundwise, it's an instrument that associates both modernity and tradition. It's a powerful, well-balanced guitar. The notes are clear, lilting and rich in harmonics. The timbre is woody and highly expressive. If, as an excellent guitarist, Antonis Hatzinikolaou had in mind to build the guitar on which he would personally like to play, we think he has succeeded in this challenge, as this instrument expresses in sound what he himself represents as a musician. A beautiful guitar that should make you want to discover it.
