Luigi Locatto's workshop has been based in Pino Torinese, in Piedmont, near Turin, for about thirty years. He has built his knowledge and his reflection on the restoration of historical instruments: Panormo, Lacôte, Torres, Simplicio, Garcia, Hauser, Fleta and other great names.
This is a Francisco Simplicio copy with cypress back and sides. Aesthetically, we find the breathtaking beauty of the instruments of this luthier: the rosette, the purfling, everything is the result of a meticulous, precise and refined work. The spruce of the top and the cypress of the back and sides are superb. Sound-wise, one can imagine all the experience and understanding to achieve such a sound quality. It is a reactive, dynamic instrument, rich in colors and of a great expressiveness. The cypress gives the notes warmth and roundness. The timbre is very expressive, grave and deep.
