José Yacopi was born in 1916 in Victoria, Spain (Bilbao area). He emigrated to Argentina in 1949 and in 1951 he set up his own workshop in San Fernando, 30km north of Buenos Aires.
Many famous guitarists (among them Narcisso Yepes, Eduardo Falú, Atahualpa Yupanqui, María Luisa Anido, and Cacho Tirao) have played the guitars he made at that time.
This beautiful 1964 guitar has remained in very good condition.
With its choicest precious woods, its exquisite decorative details, the beautiful patterns of the rosette and the purflings in Argentina’s colours, it is a typical example of his top of the range instruments.
José Yacopi used an original brace system of his own invention, which endows his guitars with great power and a very distinctive timbre.
Such a beautiful instrument fully justifies José Yacopi’s renown as a luthier.
