This beautiful guitar by Argentinian luthier Hugo Robles is a replica of an Enrique Garcia guitar (built directly after an original model).
Backstory: Enrique Garcia was born in Madrid in 1868 and left the Manuel Ramirez workshop to settle in Barcelona in 1895. He is recognized as the founder of the Barcelona school of guitar making. He was in particular the luthier behind the asymmetrical 8-fan struts bracing, an approach later echoed in the work of Ignacio Fleta.
Judging from the result, this replica of a historic model is a great success: it has deep basses, its tone is clear and expressive, with a good sustain.
This is a handsome tribute paid to one of the founding fathers of the modern classical guitar, and very fitting too, since Enrique Garcia is one among several great first generation Spanish luthiers who were very successful in South America, particularly in Argentina.
